The year is 479 BC. God’s chosen people, the Jews, are scattered far and wide. Years of rebellion and abandoning the God who created them has cost them their nation and their freedom. Exiled, far from home, conquered by one kingdom and ruler after another. God’s people continue to suffer under the reign of the latest empire. Through the prophets, God promised He would free His people and reunite them in Jerusalem one day. But for now, He is silent.

Xerxes is king over all of Persia. He is at the peak of his power. He has riches, influence, and fame. But there’s one thing he lacks—a queen. The king’s officials, fearing his wrath, encourage him to make a decree ordering that all the beautiful young women throughout Persia be brought to the palace. Each would go through a year of beauty treatments and preparation before going to meet Xerxes.

In a forgotten corner of the capital city of Susa, a young Jewish orphan, Esther, and the cousin who adopted her, Mordecai, live day to day just trying to survive. But Esther’s life is about to change forever. Of all the women throughout Persia, Esther is chosen to be queen. Following Mordecai’s instructions, Esther keeps her Jewish identity a secret.

However, an unseen danger is growing. His name is Haman. After years of serving as an official in the king’s court, Haman is consumed by greed and obsessed with power. When he passes by, everyone bows down before him in fear, afraid to provoke his anger. All except one—Mordecai, a Jew who bows to no one but God.

Driven by hatred for Mordecai and the Jewish people, Haman has set a terrible plan in motion. The stakes are high. Evil is closing in. But there’s one last hope. Will God save his people?
